Leading National Health Plan Expands Member Discount Program to Include Unique Fitness Solution

With millions of eligible lives nationwide, this leading national health plan offers a member discount program in various states across the country. In advance of healthcare reform, the plan sought value-added programs that were both important and relevant to its members, as well as programs that would encourage members to remain with the plan without adding costs to their existing premiums.

Seeking to develop a fitness solution that would add increased value, the health plan approached Healthways in 2011 to create a member pay fitness program. While the plan partnered with other fitness vendors, Healthways’ fitness solution was unique in comparison to other member pay programs. As a result, it was added to the health plan’s offering and includes additional components such as Daily Challenge® for motivation and support, along with Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) discounts and online Ask an Expert support.
